Budget with the 50-30-20 Rule

I know how hard it can be to manage your money! Surviving school without being broke all the time has to be one of the biggest challenges we face. But there are definitely budgeting hacks to help you along the way!

I wish I had read about this budgeting rule before, which I now live by religiously and has brought relief to my financials. This is the 50-30-20 rule. Let's break it down!

This budget method means that you will be allocating your spending the following way:

50% of income on NEEDS

30% of income on WANTS

20% of income on SAVINGS

NEEDS: Include housing, groceries, utilities (water, electricity, gas), transportation (car payments, gas) and other bills (phone)

WANTS: Include clothing, eating out, hobbies, gym membership, entertainment subscriptions like Spotify, Netflix, Hulu, etc.

SAVINGS: In savings, your debt is also included. Do you have a student loan? A medical bill? Save up to pay that off!

I hope this helps you the way it helped me

P.S.

Don't overstress if you can't live by this rule right now! Financial adulthood is a skill you develop, not grow into.

Yours truly,

Wendy
